Is your garden a showpiece of eco-friendly landscaping? If so, the Palm
Springs Neighborhood Involvement Committee (PSNIC) wants you, and your
garden, to participate in the First Annual Eco-Friendly Landscape Tour.
PSNIC members want to showcase eco-friendly landscaping and are soliciting
entries. Residents who have drought-tolerant landscaping in their front yards
should contact Lee Husfeldt, Director of Neighborhood and Community
Relations, by Monday, March 10, to participate.

"There are beautifully landscaped properties in Palm Springs that showcase
some wonderful desert plants,” said Husfeldt. “I'm hoping that by featuring
these eco-friendly landscaped properties, we'll not only be publicly admiring
what these homeowners have done, but we'll be giving people ideas as to what
they can do with their yards."

The landscape tour, which would occur in May or early June, would be open to
the public at no charge. A committee would select seven to 12 properties to be
highlighted on the tour. Eco-friendly landscapes would be photographed for the
Office of Neighborhood Involvement Web site and featured at an upcoming City
Council meeting.

Condo complexes that have desert landscaping, or that have recently
converted to drought-tolerant landscaping, will also be considered for the tour.
For more information, or to submit your garden, contact Husfeldt at 323.8255,
or via e-mail at Lee.Husfeldt@palmsprings-ca.gov.
